Ramsay originally joined Bell in 2016 as the firm’s Paraplanner, and is now in the role of Investment Advisor and Financial Planner. She sees her role as one of the most varied and exciting in the office. As a “people person”, she loves getting to know clients through the financial planning process and meeting with them at reviews. Her passion is to demystify personal finance, to help develop a financial plan which truly reflects their own values, and to bring them peace and confidence in their financial future.
Ramsay grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, where her parents still reside and practice architecture and historic preservation. After high school, she moved a 13-hour drive north to attend Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. While at Smith, she majored in Comparative Literature, spending her Junior Year Abroad in Paris to study French literature. Following graduation, she worked in Turkey for a year teaching English on a Fulbright.
During her senior year at Smith, Ramsay stumbled across weekly “Women and Financial Independence” luncheons led by an economics professor in the campus library. Having previously assumed that personal finance topics weren’t something that your average citizen could understand, she found these weekly presentations fascinating and empowering. This realization led to a passion for educating others about personal finance — one that was extracurricular at first, while she spent her days working in marketing and UI/UX design in San Francisco.
Not having experience with financial professionals growing up or in her early post-college years, Ramsay did not realize initially that her fascination with personal finance and her commitment to helping others establish solid financial futures could come together in an actual job. After stumbling across a reference to a “Certified Financial Planner” in 2015, she realized that these passions could be the foundation of a career. She was thrilled to find Bell Investment Advisors and to join the team in 2016. She holds the Series 65 securities license, and is also enrolled in courses to achieve her own CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.
Ramsay and her husband, Ian, love to spend time volunteering with Rocket Dog Rescue as “foster parents” to adoptable dogs. To date, they have fostered 18 dogs, including one “foster fail” — in 2015 they adopted their 5th foster dog, Bella, a shepherd mix who was found hiding underneath a car in Tijuana. Bella explored San Francisco and Northern California with Ramsay and Ian for 4 1/2 years until she passed away from cancer in early 2020.
Ramsay also enjoys volunteering with the Junior League of San Francisco, reading 52 books per year, solving jigsaw puzzles, long-distance train travel, eating Gordo’s burritos, and excelling at the game “Taboo”.
