In Memoriam: Bonnie Bell, MA, MDiv.
Past Principal, Director of Career/Life Coaching
Our dear Bonnie Bonetti-Bell was the force behind our Career/Life Coaching services. As a principal of our firm, Bonnie had an innate talent for seeing the best in people. Moreover, she helped others see the best in themselves. She and James proudly integrated investment management, financial planning, and career/life coaching in order to help their clients plan for and produce a good life.
Bonnie held a Master’s degree in Counseling, a Master’s of Divinity, and over 20 years of experience as a career/life coach. Prior to officially joining James in managing Bell Investment Advisors in 2000, she was a social worker, a mental health counselor, and the owner of two businesses: Key Concepts, an outplacement agency for communications professionals, and Finding Your Way Career Consulting.
In addition to providing one-to-one career coaching for a broad range of professionals, she conducted seminars and workshops, and was a public speaker. Bonnie was a keynote speaker at the East Bay Chapter of the Financial Women’s Association and for the Career Development Section of the Financial Planning Association; she conducted an in-service training called The Who Am I Workshop for the professional counseling staff of Homeward Bound in Novato; and she was the featured speaker at the Bell Investment Advisors Lunch & Learn, What About Coaching for High Performance? Because of the Bells’ innovative offer which includes career/life coaching along with investment management and financial planning, in May 2012 Bonnie and husband James were invited to speak at the National Financial Planning Conference on Integrating the Career Conversation into the Financial Planning Process. They regularly presented company webinars, and together wrote a column in the Piedmont Post called “Making a Good Life Happen” on issues relating to finance, career, retirement, and life.
Bonnie served on several non-profit boards and committees and was an advisor to a number of executive directors of non-profit organizations. She and James lead a Marriage Preparation Team at Newman Hall in Berkeley, and together engaged with and financially supported a number of organizations, including the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir, Cazadero Music Camp, and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus.
