OAKLAND, CA. April 2, 2014 – Bell Investment Advisors (bellinvest.com) today announced the firm will award its third annual grant of $5,000 to an Oakland-based organization or program dedicated to supporting arts programs for Oakland youth.
The Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant program reflects the firm’s belief that the arts enrich the community and contribute to its vitality as well as being essential to a well-rounded education for youth.
As ongoing cuts in public education typically result in the elimination of the arts programs from schools, we want to be part of the solution to the problem by supporting arts for youth in our community and encouraging other businesses to follow suit.
—Jim Bell, CFP®, President and Founder
Local organizations can download the grant application and obtain additional information from the firm’s website, https://bellinvest.com/about/bell-youth-arts-grant. Applications must be received no later than September 19, 2014.
The 2013 Bell Youth in-the-Arts Grant was awarded to the Gritty City Repertory Youth Theatre (GCR) from a group of 35 deserving organization applicants. GCR provides a yearlong theatre program for youth from Oakland Unified School District high schools and a few graduates currently attending local community colleges, creating an opportunity for these underserved and at-risk students to participate in personalized performing arts programs that support, inspire, and reform. The firm found that GCR is a superb example of an organization that enriches the lives of its participants as well as the entire community—and one that reflects the mission of the Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant.
Jim Bell, CFP®, President and Founder, and Bonnie Bell, MA, MDiv., Principal, and Director of Career/Life Coaching are long-time supporters of several arts organizations in the San Francisco East Bay area, including the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir, Cazadero Music Camp, and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. They urge other businesses to become involved in supporting the arts and in particular, youth-in-the arts organizations.
